My personal way of working
A good relationship with mutual trust forms the basis for effective coaching. Before we start coaching, we have a (video) conversation to see if there is a good connection. Preferably, we also have a cup of coffee together later to get to know each other better. During the coaching process, we are in regular contact, so that I am always aware of how the workouts are going and how you feel.
1
Getting to know
The process starts with an introduction, often in the form of a video call. The purpose of this conversation is to get to know each other and to determine whether there is a mutual click before starting a coaching program. With a good click, we will delve deeper into your goals and wishes with regard to coaching.
2
Intake & link with TrainingPeaks
After the introductory meeting, I will send you an intake form where you can add additional information. I'll also send you a link to link me as a coach to your TrainingPeaks account. Once I receive this information and I'm linked to your TrainingPeaks account, I'll start creating your plan.
3
Exercise test (s)
To determine where you are currently and what your training zones are, I always start by planning some exercise tests. Although you can perform such a test yourself at home, I prefer to plan an exercise test with breathing gas analysis, which I will take from you. This provides valuable information and, at the same time, offers a good time to get to know each other more closely. If it is not immediately possible to schedule such a test at the start, this can also take place at a later time.
4
Start with the schedules
After the introductory meeting, I will send you an intake form where you can add additional information. I'll also send you a link to link me as a coach to your TrainingPeaks account. Once I receive this information and I'm linked to your TrainingPeaks account, I'll start creating your plan.

Weekly adjustments
For me, it is essential that you provide feedback in TrainingPeaks after each training, which can be short and to the point. This feedback is very important because, based on this, I continuously adjust the schedules. When I see a lot of feedback that the workouts are easy and you're feeling good, you can expect us to increase the intensity. On the other hand, if I notice that you are unable to complete all the training sessions and you report that you are tired or that things are not going well, I may consider reducing the load.
6
Contact
Feedback on training courses is provided via TrainingPeaks. In addition, I am in regular contact with athletes via platforms such as WhatsApp. This is useful for simple questions or when adjustments are needed in the schedule. If more extensive discussion is needed, we will schedule a telephone conversation. I don't use a standard schedule, for example, for a phone call every two weeks, but do this based on needs or when it's convenient to consult. If you indicate that you want to call, this can usually take place the same day.
